RE-WTE is a real-time wind turbine emulator for the study of static and dynamic characteristics of wind turbine (WT) to reproduce the WT torque dynamic behavior in the generator shaft.
The system emulates the wind turbine behavior by means of a robust induction motor that can reach a power of 7.5 kW. It uses a μtech wind sensor for high fidelity measurements. The PEC-WTE can emulate a real-time measured wind profile or a pre-defined defined wind profile such as constant wind speed profile, step variations in wind speed profile, and a random wind speed profile.
